Governor Dunleavy has said his administration will keep a close eye on the 2020 election cycle in Alaska. COVID-19 restrictions continue to disrupt the usual process of campaigning, gathering, and potentially the ability of people to gather at polling places later in the year.

Area Fire Departments Helping Celebrate Birthdays

The City of Kenai Fire Department is encouraging families with children, and even folks of other ages, to reach out to them if a birthday is on the way.  The fire department is offering “drive-by celebrations” for birthday boys and girls who cannot celebrate with their friends because of social distancing measures related to COVID-19.

Governor Issues New Health Mandate, Guidance For Previous Mandate

Governor Mike Dunleavy held a press conference and was joined by Adam Crum, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, on Thursday. They announced a new health mandate, as well as guidance regarding Health Mandate 16, also known as ‘Phase One’ in the Governor’s five phase approach towards re-opening the Alaskan economy.

Wednesday A.M. Deadline To Add Children To Stimulus Checks

The Internal Revenue Service has announced that Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. AKDT is the deadline for individuals to register their children using the non-filer tool on the IRS website.  People who filed tax returns in 2018 or 2019 do not need to use that tool. Those who have not filed taxes but wish to register their children for a stimulus payment must do so.
