Due to inadequate snow conditions and to prevent resource damage, operating a snow machine within the Glacier or Seward Ranger Districts of the Chugach National Forest is prohibited.
Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter announced that a new virtual help feature has been added to the department’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) website, labor.alaska.gov/unemployment.
National Volunteer Week is April 19 – 25, and the American Red Cross of Alaska is honoring its volunteers who are helping people in need, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of the two new cases, one is a male in Palmer aged 30 – 39, while the other is a female in Chugiak aged 60 – 69.

U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency could withdraw an earlier determination made regarding potential negative impacts of the Pebble Project. That ruling came on Friday. The EPA has looked to change their original 2014 determination that the Pebble Project mine posed too great a threat to the salmon-rich waters of Bristol Bay.
Troopers from the Cantwell Post have noticed more motorists attempting to traverse the Denali Highway even though the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has not yet begun routine road maintenance. The Denali Highway remains closed to through traffic until May 15.

The topic of discussion was economic relief for Alaskans.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The total positive case count in the state now stands at 309. One of the reported cases is from Kenai.
