Governor Mike Dunleavy delivered his nightly press briefing alongside Dr. Anne Zink as well as his entire cabinet as they announced the latest COVID-19 results, as well as Health Mandate 10 which relates to wearing masks in public.

To ease the financial burden of Alaskans and to assist with preventing the spread of COVID-19, Governor Mike Dunleavy suspended AS 28.35.155(a), the statute referencing the studded tire usage, until May 11. 

Governor Mike Dunleavy and Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anne Zink, delivered a presentation modeling her department’s latest tools Alaskans can use to stay informed about in Alaska. She also explained the state’s new method of tracking COVID-19 cases.

To address the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and issue expectations for how the city should continue to craft its response, Kenai Mayor Brian Gabriel has written a letter to residents of the city.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly has scheduled an emergency session on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m.  The Assembly will look at three emergency ordinances during the session.

Commissioner Michael Johnson of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development offered updates about how school systems are working to support everyone involved in the education process during a press briefing held by Governor Mike Dunleavy on Thursday evening.

Governor Mike Dunleavy announced ten new positive cases of COVID-19 throughout the State of Alaska on Wednesday during his nightly press briefing. This brings the total in the state to 143 positive cases.

The Alaska Democratic Party has cancelled their primary vote at polling places scheduled for Saturday, April 4, to instead using an all-mail primary.  The ballots must be received by no later than April 10 to be valid.  The change was made to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
