Soldotna’s Historical Society and Museum will hold their next membership meeting on Saturday, February 29, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.

Modeled after the highly successful Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, highly motivated graduate students are matched with host state or federal agencies in Alaska. Graduate students close to completing a degree, or with a recently earned degree, are eligible.

On Wednesday, Governor Mike Dunleavy introduced legislation to establish the Alaska Lottery Corporation to organize, operate, and regulate an Alaska State Lottery.

The City of Soldotna will introduce an ordinance at their meeting on Wednesday that would expand and codify whistleblower protections within Soldotna, beyond the protections already afforded by the state.

The Alaska State Troopers and the Alaska Broadcasters Association will be conducting a live test of the Alaska Amber Alert System on Wednesday, February 19th at approximately 10:20 a.m.  The test will be canceled in the event of an actual child abduction Amber Alert.

As reported by KSRM on January 28, Kenai Fire Chief Jeff Tucker will be retiring this March.  The city has announced an official retirement party, for those wanting to celebrate the career of Chief Tucker.

On Wednesday, the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Luncheon will discuss how Soldotna cash mobs came to fruition and why the patrons find it to be beneficial to the community.
