The top teams in Division I and Division II cross country running, except for Fairbanks programs, competed at Bartlett High School at the 2018 Bartlett State Preview Meet on Saturday.
Bartlett State Preview: Girls Results
The Kenai Kardinal girls placed fourth overall and place highest among Division II schools. The Service girls topped the team competition, followed by West ad Chugiak.
Emily Walsh of Eagle River lead the individual results with a time of 18:43.
Kenai was lead by an eighth-place finish by Jaycie Calvert. Kenai’s scoring runners also included: Leah Fallon, 20th; Brooke Satathite, 21st; Logan Satathite, 30th; and Summer Foster, 47th. Soldotna top finishers included a top-20 finish by Jordan Strausbaugh in 16th; Erika Arthur, 32nd and Tannis Lorring, 39th.
Bartlett State Preview: Boys Results
The Soldotna boys topped the peninsula schools with a sixth-place team finish. Dimond and Chugiak battled for the top spot in the boys competition; the Lynx totaling 49 points for the win. The SoHi boys topped all Region III Division I teams at the meet.
Chugiak’s Daniel Bausch held-off Dimond’s Santiago Prosser for the boys title.
SoHi’s top finisher was Lance Chilton with a 17th place result. SoHi’s top performers included: Mekbed Denbrock, 21st; Bradley Walters, 26th; and Jack Harris, 48th. Kenai’s top finisher was Maison Dunham in 25th.
