The regular season for both high school baseball and softball wrapped with teams finishing conference play and finalizing conference seeding for the upcoming conference tournaments.
Southcentral Conference Baseball
SoHi 7 – Palmer 2
The Stars held the Moose to three hits behind a solid seven inning effort by Tanner Ussing for a 7-2 victory over Palmer. SoHi finishes conference play with a 4-4 record.
Homer 7 – Kenai 5
The Kenai boys rallied late with three runs in the seventh inning; however, fall to Homer 7-5 in the Kardinals conference finale’. Kenai closes the regular season with a 1-7 conference record.
SoHi 4 -Wasilla 6 Non-Conference
SoHi closed the regular season with a non-conference lose to Division I Wasilla 6-4. The Stars lead early with a 3-0 advantage after 2 1/2 innings.
The Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament will be hosted by Redington High School and begins play on Thursday, May 23rd. Brackets will be posted when available.
Northern Lights Conference Softball
SoHi 19 – Kenai 11
Nine combined runs were scored in the first inning, four for the Stars and five for the Kards; SoHi added five runs in the second inning and never relinquished the lead in a 19-11 victory over Kenai. SoHi closes conference play with a 3-4 record.
Kenai 0 – Homer 16
The Kardinals closed their conference play with a 16-0 loss to Homer in a three inning, run-rule game. Kenai posts a 1-7 conference record.
The Northern Lights Conference Softball Championships will be hosted by Kenai Central High School beginning Friday, May 24th on the Kenai Fields.
