The final three high school sports state championships were earned and awarded on Saturday as girls softball crowned champions in two divisions and boys baseball battled for the lone state title.
The ASAA First National Softball Championships included team titles in both Division I and Division II classifications with tournament action in Fairbanks.
The ASAA State Baseball Championships were contested at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.
Girls Softball: Division II
The Division II girls softball championship game featured a pair of Southeast Conference opponents with Thunder Mountain from Juneau defeating Ketchikan 12-0 in the title game.
The Thunder Mountain Falcons won a third-straight softball championship, defeating Ketchikan in two of three meetings on championship Saturday.
The Homer Mariners, representing the Northern Lights Conference, were eliminated on Friday in consolation round play in an 8-7 walk-off loss to Delta. Earlier Friday, Homer fell to Thunder Mountain 18-0.
Girls Softball: Division I
The Division I girls softball championship again belongs to East Anchorage. The East Thunderbirds defeated Dimond in the large-school championship game 14-6 on Saturday at South Davis Park in Fairbanks. East has appeared in seven-straight championships and last won in 2015.
Boys Baseball
The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears won their record sixth Alaska high school baseball championship, downing South 3-2 in the title game. Juneau scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh inning and held South for the final three outs. Juneau last won the ASAA state title in baseball in 2012.
