The diamonds will be busy this weekend as the high school softball season closes its regular season and qualifies teams for the state tournament, and the baseball season moves into conference tournament play.
Boys Baseball
The Southcentral Conference baseball tournament, featuring Kenai and SoHi, completed three days of competition by Houston High School. The SCC qualifies two teams, Kodiak and Wasilla, to the ASAA State Baseball Championships scheduled for June 4-6 at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.

Girls Softball
The regular season for central peninsula softball closes with the Soldotna Stars traveling to Kodiak for the final regular season contests. The Stars and Kodiak Bears will battle for the final state qualifying spot, while the Kenai Kardinals girls will not qualify to the small-school state tournament, as only the top two teams in the NLC advance to state. The softball state tournament, both small-school and large-school, will be held on the South Davis Complex in Fairbanks, June 5-6.
