The Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches, as part of the 2022 AABC Senior All Star Games weekend, inducted the most recent Class of 2022 into the AABC Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2022 honors Molly Tuter, Soldotna High School class of 1993; as well as, 17 other 2022 inductees.
Molly Tuter, one of six basketball players in the Class of 2022, was a two-time, 1st-team All-State selection, Region III Player of the Year, 4A All-State 1st Team, 4A State All- Tournament Team, 4A Girls MVP, and Gatorade Alaska Female Player of the Year while playing for the SoHi Lady Stars.
Molly and her Lady Star teammates claimed the ASAA 4A State Basketball Championship in 1993.
Following graduation from SoHi in 1993, Tuter played basketball for four years at Arizona State University.
Tuter was twice selected as an All-Pac Ten Team member. She was third in career scoring with 1,374 points and ranked in the top three with career steals and three-point field goals made for the Sun Devils. She also ranks fifth all-time in school history in field goals made (504), fifth in 3-point field goals made (116) and fourth in steals (221) and was the Sun Devils leading rebounder all four years she played at ASU.
Molly Tuter was inducted into the Arizona State University Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Tuter holds the honor of being the first Alaskan to play in the WNBA, playing for the Phoenix Mercury. She also played professionally in Europe for a season.
After her playing career, Molly Tuter coached at UCLA and UC Irvine, advancing to the head coach position for the UCI Anteaters.
