With four weeks remaining in the regular season for high school basketball, many teams are booked into invitational tournaments before closing the regular season with a run through conference play.
Dimond Lady Lynx Tournament @ Dimond High School SoHi Girls & Kenai Girls
The Soldotna Star and Kenai Kardinal girls basketball team are competing in a 16-team, four day tournament at Dimond High School scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, February 8-11. The tournament’s first round on Wednesday was a seeded draw with the winning teams placed into the tournament’s Gold Bracket and the losing teams placed in the Maroon Bracket. Bracket play continues Thursday through Saturday.

Bartlett 49 – Kenai 27 (Game B)
The Bartlett Golden Bears, on the strength of eight 3-point baskets, downed Kenai 49-27. Kenai trailed 24-12 at the half as Bartlett made six 3’s in the first half. Brooke Satathite lead the Kards with 11 points.
Ketchikan 37 – SoHi 36 (Game E)
The Stars and Kings battled back-and-forth throughout SoHi’s first round game; Ketchikan scores last for a 37-36 victory. The Stars scored on an in-bounds layup with 7 seconds remaining, only to have Ketchikan scored a three point shot at the buzzer for the one point win.

Homer Winter Carnival @ Homer High School Nikiski Boys
The Bulldog boys will compete in the three-day, round robin Homer Winter Carnival basketball tournament at Homer High School Thursday-Saturday, February 9-11.
Nikiski draws Sitka on Thursday in a 5:00 p.m. game.

SoHi Boys in Anchorage
The SoHi boys traveled to Anchorage on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Grace Christian School. The Grizzlies down the Stars 57-51. Tobin Karlberg lead the Grizzlies with 25 points; Derek Evans scored 13 for the Stars.
The Star boys return to Anchorage to play Eagle River on Friday at 7:00 p.m and travel to Chugiak to play the Mustangs on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Kenai Boys host Kodiak
The Kardinal boys host the Kodiak Bears in Northern Lights Conference action at KCHS on Friday and Saturday, February 10-11. Friday’s game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and Saturday’s game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
