The final weekend of the regular season for high school basketball in the 3A and 4A classifications features Southcentral conference showdowns for the Nikiski Bulldogs and a Northern Lights Conference Saturday finale’ for the Kardinals and Stars.

The Bulldogs close the regular season with three road games in the Southcentral Conference.

Nikiski Girls 48 – Joe Redington 16
…The Bulldog girls win on Saturday at Joe Redington creates a tie between Nikiski and ACS girls for the Southcentral Conference #1 seed.
According to Nikiski coach Scott Anderson, the ACS Lions won the coin flip tie-breaker Friday night which awards the Lions the #1 seed.

Emma Wik poured in 27 points, including seven three-point baskets. The Bulldog girls improve to 10-1 in Southcentral Conference; ACS stands at 11-1.

Nikiski Girls 56 – Seward 24 Bethany Carstens scored 22 points for the Bulldogs.
Seward Boys 50 – Nikiski 39 Ian Johnson scored 20 points for Nikiski.

Kenai vs SoHi Basketball
The Kenai Kardinals hosted SoHi on Saturday for Kenai’s Senior Day. Both the girls and boys game’s impacting the seeding for the Northern Lights Conference tournament, scheduled for next week in Kodiak.

SoHi Girls 37 -Kenai 19
The SoHi girls earned the #3 seed into the NLC tournament with a 37-19 victory over Kenai in the final regular season game on Saturday. Aliann Schmidt scored 13 points for the Stars. SoHi finishes with a 5-5 NLC record and will face #6 seed Kodiak in the first round of the Northern Lights Conference tournament in Kodiak on Thursday, March 9th. Kenai will face Palmer in the first round.
Kenai Boys 52 – SoHi 47
The Kardinal boys, with a 52-47 victory over SoHi on Saturday, earn the $5 seed into the NLC tournament. Josh Jackman scored 22 for Kenai; Caleb Spence scored 12 for the Stars. SoHi will be the #6 seed.
Brackets should be available on Sunday for the Northern Lights Conference Tournament in Kodiak.
