Kenai Peninsula residents have seen scams from callers impersonating Homer Electric Association collectors to IRS personnel over the last year.
Katie Jacobson with the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce says Tuesday’s luncheon at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex will address ongoing scams and ways to prevent being a victim to them.
Jacobson: “We’ll feature Michelle Tabler, she’s the Alaska Regional Manager for the Better Business Bureau and she’ll be letting us know a little bit more about ID theft and top scams that business owners and really anyone in the general public should know about. So she’ll be giving us some updates and what to look for.”
The Kenai Peninsula has the highest senior population in the state and Tabler has said before that the elderly are often targeted by phone and email scams.
To attend the luncheon from 12 noon to 1 pm tomorrow, RSVP with the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce at 262-9814.
Michelle Tabler with the BBB will also be on tonight’s Tall, Dark, and Handsome Show tonight from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Tune in to KSRM 920 AM to listen.
