During Alaska’s last legislative session Republicans and Democrats accused each other of trying to sway the August and November elections as representatives stayed overtime in Juneau.
Because of the delay, issues more likely to attract more liberal leaning voters were pushed to the November ballot.
KSRM asked Alaska’s U.S. Senator Mark Begich(D) if he felt this general election would attract a certain variety of voter.
Sen. Begich: “I think like all Alaskans I get concerned about all the issues so I believe we’ll see a good cross-section of voters like we usually do.”
High-profile Democrats Begich and Forrest Dunbar will appear on the November 4 ballot, along with initiatives on regulating and taxing marijuana, raising Alaska’s minimum wage and adding legislative approval for large-scale mineral mining permits.
This Sunday, October 5 is the last day to register to vote for that election or change voter information.
