Mayor-Elect Ethan Berkowitz will replace Mayor Dan Sullivan on July 1 after a decisive win over Eagle River Amy Demboski in a runoff election.
Berkowitz, a Democrat, claimed 59% of the vote as of late last night. He called for a unified city after a bitter and divisive mayoral race.
Dembowski avoided the press but said she left a congratulatory message on Berkowitz’s phone.
