The Binkley Street Renovation Project was awarded to Peninsula Construction Inc at last night’s Soldotna City Council Meeting.
Lee Fry with the City of Soldotna said that construction on the Wilson intersection near Safeway is slated to begin May 5.
Fry: “The plan is that we’re going to get started there working on redoing the paving, installing the new roundabout at that intersection and we’re expecting to be done early June on that and we’re actually going to be opening up the access in between there for that intersection Memorial Day weekend because we’re expecting a lot of travelers to come down here, vacation for the weekend, things like that.”
Fry said that after communicating with nearby businesses it would be best to start on that end of the project.
Fry: “We were originally planning on doing the south portion of the project down by the Sterling Highway intersection at the very end of the summer and after discussing with the businesses we ended up kind of changing our plan and deciding to hit that section first.”
