The Binkley Street Project began this week effectively shutting down a section of Binkley Street from the Sterling Highway to Riverview.
Soldotna City Engineer Kyle Kornelis gave us an update.
Kornelis: “We’re in the demolition stage right now, it’s difficult to have Binkley shut down at the moment but we ask folks to bear with us and get it open as soon as possible before the peak of summer hits.”
He said the project has been broken into phases in order to minimize impacts on the public and businesses.
Kornelis: “We have kind of three major phases the Wilson intersection is the first big phase and we want to get out of there towards the end of May the beginning of June and then Phase two is kind of toward the Redoubt intersection and phase three would be down by Marydale.”
Those three intersections will see mini roundabouts installed throughout the summer.
