The Kenai Birding Festival has been attracting enthusiasts far and wide, but Lisa Berenek with the Watershed Forum said they experienced a soggy start to the event during today’s Kenai river float….
Berenek: “It was a wet one, but one thing I’ve learned about birders is they are hard core. A lot of folks from the Peninsula, from the Anchorage area, but also a lot of folks that came from across the country this year, from Massachusetts and Chicago and whatnot that came to spend their day out in a drift boat floating down the Kenai River searching out birds, stopping at gravel bars, and enjoying the day with our local volunteer boat guides and our local volunteer bird experts.”
The Festival continues tonight with an orientation at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center starting a 7pm…
Most events are free. The festival is also keeping a list of the bird sightings at the Kenai Visitor’s and Cultural Center.
