Blanning Leads Peninsula Runners At Boston Marathon

The 120th running of the Boston Marathon included three Kenai Peninsula runners as the nearly 28,000 runner’s competed in the 2016 Boston Marathon on Monday.

Mark Blanning of Kenai, and graduate of KCHS, posted the fastest Peninsula men’s time of 3 hours, 25 minutes, 53 seconds; good for 6,497 overall and 12th among Alaska men.

Susan Craig of Soldotna, the only female from the Peninsula, posted a time of 4:23:11 and Moose Pass resident Kevin Krolek completed the 26.2 mile course in 3:44:18.

The top Alaskan male was Jacob Kirk ,23, of Anchorage (Grace Christian School graduate) finishing in 2:37:23.  The top female Alaskan was Chelsea Ward-Waller, 26, of Anchorage, led Alaska women in 3:12:59.
