The Federal Bureau of Land Management has scheduled an oil and gas lease sale in the National Petroleum Reserve Alaska for next month.
The BLM announced the 13th lease sale in the NPRA will be held December 14th.
Included in the sale is 145 tracts containing 1.4 million acres of land.
While more than 895,000 acres are covered by current leases in the NPRA, the first successful well to reach oil wasn’t announced until last year at a ConocoPhillips drill site.
The BLM has announced it will conduct an environmental review of a second site at the Greater Moose’s Tooth 2 Unit.
