Today Blue Crest Energy made an announcement for a local project that will create 400 jobs.

Director, President and CEO Benjamin Johnson said they are already in the early stages of constructing onshore facilities in the Cosmopolitan Unit near Anchor Point.

Johnson: “We’re building everything onshore to drill offshore and then in addition we’re bringing gas platforms in that will eventually tie into that onshore facility.”

According to the company’s website, they will work to recover deeper liquid oil reservoirs through advanced-technology from an onshore surface location.

In longer term plans Blue Crest will add an offshore platform to target natural gas reserves which will tie into the onshore facility.

The company also announced they are working with WesPac Midstream LLC, an oil and gas developer, to build an LNG Plant in Port McKenzie.

Johnson: “We will have gas available to Alaskans a lot sooner than the large LNG project, that’s probably ten years out, we should have gas available within 2 or 3 years to Alaskans”

The company owns 100% of the Cosmopolitan project which is one of the Cook Inlet basin’s largest undeveloped fields.
