BOEM Scoping Meeting at KPC Tonight

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is holding a scoping meeting at the Kenai Peninsula College from 5 – 8 pm tonight to discuss opening the Cook Inlet to oil and gas lease sales by 2018.

 

Scoping is defined by the National Environmental Policy Act as “an early and open process for determining the scope of issues to be addressed and for identifying the significant issues related to the proposed action”.

 

At the meeting the public can comment on the upcoming Environmental Impact Statement that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will be providing on that special interest least sale of Cook Inlet Unit 244.

 

The public comment period for that E.I.S. ends on Monday December 8th of 2014.
