Tomorrow morning Borough Administration and Assembly Members will hold a public field trip of sorts to look at the K-Beach areas affected by the 2013 flooding.

Mayor Mike Navarre said it was deemed a public meeting since more than three Assembly Members would attend.

Navarre: “To see where there is water, to point out some of the things that the borough has done, and just get an overall perspective of the issue, where the homes that were impacted were sited and sort of a view of the overall picture of what’s going on so that it can hopefully lead to better and more informed discussion before the assembly instead of a hit and miss in terms of what’s accurate and what’s not.”

There will also be a more in depth discussion at a 2:00 pm work session scheduled for the afternoon.

Navarre: “Including some maps and a power point presentation that we’ve put together and we’re going to have included in the field trip and in the meeting in the afternoon which will be a part of the assembly’s work session we have of course some borough folks but more importantly we’ve got some folks from DNR who are going to participate and can have their perspective on what’s being proposed and how it might impact the area.

Navarre was referring to a variety of projects like culvert installations and a water conveyance structure which have been brought forward by the K-Beach High Water Drainage Task Force and the non-profit K-Beach Flood Mitigation Project.

The public is invited to join Borough Administration and Assembly members in the tour of the flooding area tomorrow, April 7, at 9:45 am at the K-Beach Fire Station (37699 K-Beach Drive).
