The Kenai Peninsula Borough will host a community meeting on the Alaska LNG Project this Thursday in Nikiski.

Special Oil and Gas Assistant Larry Persily with the Borough…

Persily: “We have a little information on some of their summer 2016 field work, certainly I wish I had answers as to what’s going to happen next year or the year after with the project. The governor talked last month about maybe looking at other options if this appeared to be slowing down but he has not provided details about that.”

He says during Thursday evening’s meeting he will also address the LNG market globally and what it could mean for the Nikiski project.

Persily: “None of it bodes well for us. I’d like people to understand that the market really looks bad right now and we need to understand that and be prepared for whatever happens. But for now they’re still going ahead with some summer activity in the Nikiski area, offshore, so I’d like to talk to people about that.”

Persily says questions from the community will also be fielded throughout the evening.

That meeting will be from 6:30 pm to 8 pm this Thursday, March 10, at the Nikiski Recreation Center.
