Borough Administration and members of the public took a tour of the K-Beach areas affected by the 2013 flooding this morning.
Kelly Lipinski is with the K-Beach Flood Mitigation Project…
Lipinski: “DNR and the borough have had the opportunity to tour the area and walk up and down the section line easement but there seem to be a lot of misconceptions about the area and our project but hopefully this will clear that up.”
Lipinski said she was disappointed that the Borough only opened a brief comment period on their application for the 7th St Water Conveyance Structure, which is basically a series of ditches…
Lipinski: “They really didn’t extend an opportunity for a town hall meeting or a venue for people to actually come and learn about the project. The few people who did mark that they were opposed to the temporary water use applications actually have quite a few misconceptions in their comments.”
If approved by DNR the structure will reside on an easement on Eider off of K-Beach.
Lipinski said they’ve already addressed many of the concerns that came through the borough comment period.
The Borough Assembly will hold a 2 pm work session with more information and a presentation.
