Borough Administration and members of the public visited six K-Beach areas affected by the 2013 flooding.

Toby Burke lives in the area and has throughout the flooding.

He has been working with the K-Beach High Water Drainage Task Force and said residents he has spoken with would like to see the potential of future flooding mitigated.

Burke: “That’s not going to happen unless there’s a comprehensive plan developed and so far that has not happened and local residents like myself are trying to make sure that a local and comprehensive plan is developed because there really hasn’t been one developed and that’s probably not going to happen until a drainage engineer is involved.”

Mayor Mike Navarre previously stated the tour would be to familiarize assembly members with the areas and the types of things that had been done at the time of the flooding to help residents most heavily impacted.

The areas showed mostly ditching, culverts, and reinforced banks which had been installed by the borough and partners in order to try to alleviate the water movement generated in the 2013 flooding.

The area where the Seventh Street Water Conveyance Structure was also visited, surveys on the easement were completed sometime last week.
