The Borough Assembly will continue their daunting Fiscal Year 2016 budget process through an all day work session tomorrow.
Assembly President Dale Bagley said their schedule is not tied to current legislature happenings.
Bagley: “It doesn’t impact us too much except for the school end of things, that’ll be something that we’ll have to figure out with the changes here and what it’s going to mean for the schools. But otherwise as far as the borough’s operating budget and service areas and what not we’re not dependent upon the legislature.”
The assembly will review the budget and begin departmental reviews at 9:00 am tomorrow(May 5).
Bagley: “Four or five years ago the assembly decided to do away with listening to the different departments and because of that, assembly members have kind of lost touch a little bit with what the different departments and service areas at the borough does. I don’t know why they did that but I’m very happy to be going back to reviewing the different departments and service areas and I know pretty much everyone else on the assembly is happy about this.”
Bagley said he doesn’t expect problems in one specific department but if history is any indicator, non-departmental funding will be a hot topic.
There will be public hearings on the borough’s budget on May 19 and June 2 during the regularly scheduled assembly meetings.
