Borough administration is preparing to choose members for the recently created Marijuana Task Force.

The Assembly voted to create the task force at their March 17 meeting and Chief of Staff Paul Ostrander said they are now reviewing the individuals who have requested to be a part of it.

Ostrander: “We are requesting a resume and basically a cover letter of each one of those individuals, it’s quite likely that we will meet with each one of them individually and then based on those discussions determine which of those folks we would like to invite to participate on the task force.”

That local task force will be comprised of 11 volunteer members: two assembly members, three knowledgeable public members, one law enforcement member, mayoral staff, and four appointees nominated by those.

Ostrander said administration was waiting to see what regulations would be created at the state level; Now that multiple pieces of legislation about marijuana have passed the borough is ready to get the task force up and running.

Ostrander: “One of the primary things that they will be doing is following the development of the regulations at the state level and by following that they’ll remain up to speed on how those regulations are being developed, how they’re changing and then they’ll advise the administration and the assembly on those changes and make any recommendations that they think are appropriate that the municipality, the borough, should weigh in on those specific regulations.”

Any members of the public interested in participating on the task force can email a cover letter and resume to [email protected].
