Yet another community meeting will be held in Nikiski next week regarding the Alaska LNG Project, but this time the Borough will host.
Special Oil and Gas Assistant Larry Persily says based on the recent attendance numbers at the other proposed gasline meetings, there is still a significant amount of interest in what’s happening.
Persily: “It became clear at both those meetings there’s a lot of rumors, there’s some misunderstandings, there some misinformation, people feel they’re not getting clear concise answers on what they want to hear so to the extent that I can try to fill in some of those gaps I thought hey that’s what I’m here for, I’ll come out and let people tell me what they think the borough should know or ask and I’ll answer what I can and what I don’t, I’ll get back to them with an answer.”
Persily says he will be the only one from the borough there and the meeting format will be informal, sort of a question and answer session.
He says the goal of the meeting is to be open and transparent about what the Borough knows at this stage in the project and attendees are welcome to ask about anything, including:
- Kenai Spur Highway relocation
- Alaska LNG land acquisition for plant site
- Project timeline
- Federal environmental impact statement process and borough comments
- State involvement in the project
The meeting will be from 6:30 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 12, at the Nikiski Recreation Center.
