Borough Meet Crowns Team And Individual Running Champions

The 2015 Kenai Peninsula Borough Cross Country Running Championships, through the rain and muddy conditions, filled the Tsalteshi Trails with running competition featuring the peninsula’s top high school distance runners.

The Homer Mariners captured both the girls and boys team titles with Kenai second in the girls standings and Seward second in the boys results.

In the girls competition, Riana Boonstra posted the fastest time for the 3-K course for the girls individual Borough title, completing the course in 12:11.  Homer’s Megan Pitzman finished second followed by Seward’s Ruby Lindquist and Kenai’s Ithaca Bergholtz and Addison Gibson.

In the boys competition, Seward’s Hunter Kratz posted a 10:18 for the fastest time on the 3-K course.  SoHi’s Aaron Swedberg finished second followed by Homer’s Jordan Beachy, Jared Brant and Charlie Menke.

 

Next on the running schedule is a fun run in Homer on Saturday, before the 2015 Region III Cross Country Running Championships next week at Colony High School.
