The Borough Office of Emergency Management is accepting applications for the upcoming Community Emergency Response Team courses.
Program Coordinator Dan Nelson with OEM said this round of training has somewhat of a new element.
Nelson: “The course this time is a little bit different because it includes an online class designed to be taken before people come and that’s designed to give a lot of the prerequisite information so we don’t have to waste a lot of time on lecture but instead are practicing things and doing more hands on.”
The training involves four courses starting January 2, which is Friday evening from 6 – 9 pm and then three full Saturday courses after that, ending January 17 with a mock emergency.
Nelson: “Disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical operations and then we’ll get into search and rescue and team organization and some other concepts as well.”
