A group of borough residents who oppose Soldotna’s proposed annexation stated they are ramping up education efforts after the city council allocated $50,000 to study impacts of the city expansion.
Priscilla Mott: “We were trying to save them some money to do something we’ve done for them for free, we’ve already gone and done the straw pole, we’ve talked to people, we’ve asked people what they though and got honest answers from them. They apparently don’t care.”
Priscilla Mott is involved with the group Borough Residents Against Annexation who believe they will not benefit by being incorporated into Soldotna city limits.
City officials continue to emphasize that the proposed annexation is needed due to the city’s growth, was built into the administration’s 30-year-plan, and will be beneficial in the event a large box store might move into the area.
The Borough Residents Against Annexation will hold a meeting tonight, June 8, at 6 pm at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association building on K-Beach Road.
