The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly, at their meeting on Tuesday, decided to approve appropriations for money to be spent for a fire truck that was deemed a total loss in 2017.
KPB Assembly member Brent Hibbert: “Back in November of 2017, we had an accident where we were responding to an emergency. It was deemed that it was a total loss. To replace that truck will cost $750,000 – luckily, we had some insurance that will pay $616,583, so Central Emergency Services is requesting us to appropriate $133,417 for that new fire truck.”
CES requested funds be appropriated from the CES fund balance along with insurance proceeds, to cover the total cost of a replacement fire truck. The CES Service Area Board, at its regular meeting back in November of 2019, unanimously supported the funding and replacement of the truck.
