The Kenai Peninsula Borough is working to provide more regular updates on the Alaska LNG project and will hold it’s second community meeting in Nikiski on Thursday, December. 10.
Borough Mayor Mike Navarre co-hosted the first meeting.
Mayor Navarre: “Letting people know that they are paying attention to some of the things that they are concerned with and we’re going to do this on an ongoing basis just so that they can get some questions answered and keep up to date on what’s going on.”
The mayor and Special Oil and Gas Assistant Larry Persily led the community meeting last month, where many attendees stated the question and answer session was the kind of meeting format they had been waiting for.
Rebecca: “Everybody wants to know what’s going to happen and when is it going to happen, and there’s just no way that they can let us know that.
Don: “At least not right yet. This project is just so big that I think it’s overwhelming a lot of folks.”
Since the initial community meeting in Nikiski, Governor Bill Walker has shaken up the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation’s board members and reportedly secured Gas Availability Agreements from ConocoPhillips and BP.
This week’s meeting will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 10, at the Nikiski Recreation Center.
