The State of Alaska has allocated $18,000 to upgrade the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s 911 computer aided dispatch system.
Borough Mayor Mike Navarre said the upgrade allows Soldotna’s emergency call center’s CAD system to interface with the state’s computers and programs in public safety vehicles.
Mayor Navarre: “Our dispatchers have to deal with the Troopers on an ongoing basis so the state’s paying for this so that we can get that interface between the two. And it will save time in terms of dispatchers’ times.”
Navarre believes it will benefit the public also because the upgrade will help first responders get better information quicker.
