The Boys & Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula has opened registration for all age groups for the outdoor soccer summer season, after a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of athletic facilities.
The outdoor soccer program registration is available online at www.bgckp.com
Registration will remain open through June 12th with the season starting on June 15th and running through July 31st. The outdoor soccer season is open to grades Pre-K through 12th grade.

“We also offer year round athletics programs for youth ages 4-18. Our sports programs downplay competition and winning and focus instead on giving every child the chance to play and the opportunity to have fun, while at the same time providing a chance for learning and developing lifetime team building and athletic skills.”
The Boys & Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula provides outdoor soccer on City of Kenai facilities, not KPBSD facilities, and have worked-out mitigation plans with the city.

“No we don’t need school district approval for that. We are running our athletics programs on City of Kenai facilities, so we worked-out our mitigation plan with the City of Kenai. And using their mitigation plan and our mitigation plan we’ll be able to offer our programs.”

“Likely because it is a lot easier to keep youth spread out and run a program outside. Close contact is a lot more limited with an outdoor soccer program and we feel we can run it camp-style, or sort of camp-style program following our CDC guidelines. We will be adhering to a stricter standard than what is out there right now by the state of Alaska because we’re being more conservative.”
