Five Kenai Peninsula School District teachers have been included in BP’s 2014 Teachers of Excellence list, to be recognized April 30 at the Alaska Christian College.

Principal Raymond Marshall of West Homer Elementary commented on having two of their teachers, Barbara Veeck and Katie Bynagle on the list this year.

Marshall: “Both of them are very strong at collaborating with their peers. This year at West Homer actually the last two years at West Homer we’ve had a teacher mentoring project where all teachers are doing observations in other teachers classrooms through this peer mentoring program that we have going, we’re kind of cross pollinating our best practices across the entire building and so both of these ladies have been models for other people but then they’ve also helped other people get better as well. And also learned from their colleagues.”

The other KPBSD teachers on the list this year are Terri McKnight from Seward Elementary, Sheilah-Margaret Pothast from Soldotna Middle, and Amy Utecht from Redoubt Elementary.
