Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships Open Thursday: SoHi Girls & Kenai Boys Earn Top Seeds

The 2019 Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships open play on Thursday, May 16, hosted at Homer High School.  The bracketed-tournament format features first round games on Thursday, in both girls and boys brackets, between the #4 seeded Nikiski Bulldogs and the #5 seeded Seward Seahawks.

Thursday Game Schedule

4 p.m.  Nikiski Girls vs Seward

6 p.m.  Nikiski Boys vs Seward

 

Girls Tournament Seeding & Bracket

The SoHi girls earn the #1 seed into the girls bracket, Soldotna is awarded the top position based on a three-team, tie-breaker involving SoHi, Kenai and Homer.   After Kenai was eliminated in the tie-breaker process, the Stars held the head-to-head advantage over Homer with a win and a tie in two games against the Mariners.

SoHi will play Friday at noon against the winner of Thursday’s opening round game between #4 Nikiski and #5 Seward. The Kardinal girls and Homer girls will play on Friday afternoon in the 4 p.m. contest with the winner advancing to the Peninsula Conference championship game.

 

Boys Tournament Seeding & Bracket

The Kenai Kardinal boys earn the #1 seed into the Peninsula Conference tournament and receive a first-round bye.  Kenai will face the winner of Thursday’s opening round 6 p.m. contest between #4 Nikiski and #5 Seward on Friday at 2 p.m.  #2 Homer faces #3 Soldotna in Friday’s 6 p.m. game at Homer High School.  Friday’s winners advance to the Peninsula Conference championship game on Saturday.
