The brackets are finally set for the 2020 Alliance Baseball State Tournament following a protest, a re-play of a game’s final inning, and the ranking of the top eight qualifiers; the ABL state tournament will “play ball” beginning on Friday, July 24th at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The Alaska 20 Twins (Alyeska Pool) will open pool play on Friday against Eagle River in the 5:00 p.m. game. The Twins play South Anchorage on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and will play Chugiak on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. The top two teams in each pool (Denali and Alyeska) advance to the finals on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-29.
Team Qualifying & Seeding
The top two teams in each division, American and National, earned automatic berths to the ABL state tournament and earned the top four seeds with #1 Dimond and #4 West placed in the Denali Pool; #2 South and #3 Eagle River placed in the Alyeska Pool for pool play.
Juneau earns the final spot in the tournament following a victory on Sunday over North Pole which was then protested and resolved. North Pole protested that Juneau used an ineligible pitcher in the 3-2 victory over North Pole. North Pole won the protest and the seventh inning (final inning) was replayed on Monday. Juneau earned the victory and the #8 seed.
