Wildfire Near Caribou Lake

The Department of Forestry says firefighter crews are responding to a fire approximately four miles southwest of Caribou Lake which has burned about 12 acres.

 

As of 5 pm, Fire Prevention Officer Darren Finley said it is a human caused fire but crews have the fire about 50% under control however have not achieved containment.

 

Finley: “Right now it’s approximately 12 acres and it’s burning in grass and beetle kill is the primary fuel there. We have firefighters that are there on scene and additional firefighter are working their way in by four wheeler and we also have ordered the Pioneer Peak Hot Shot crew out of Palmer Alaska.”
