The Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center announced that they found their new Executive Director, Brett Perry. The announcement was made originally last week in a Kenai Chamber newsletter. Perry was recently hired as the replacement for Brittany Brown, who, in February, resigned after a year and a half of service.
Perry tells KSRM:
“It’s definitely quite the honor. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be the new Executive Director of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.”
Perry talks about his back story and what led him to the Kenai Peninsula:
“So originally, I came to Alaska in about 2008 when I was in the Army. I got stationed up at Fort Wainwright where I was a helicopter pilot and an officer up there. I spent, well I was stationed about three-four years, but really two of those were deployed. Eventually the Army moved us away and I met Jessica (wife) up there while she was going to college at UAF. We met, got married, and moved away because of the Army and after getting out, we basically made the decision to move back up here and raise our family. We have three children, one boy and two girls.”
Perry lays out his vision for the future:
“Well, currently trying to meet as many members as possible and figure out things that are going good or things that can be improved upon and find ways that the Chamber can provide the best value for them, for our members and also hopefully to gain more membership. Trying to grow our membership, get the word out there for Kenai, help build the community and local businesses as well.”
Perry adds that he has room to grow for new businesses that were formed during the COVID-19 pandemic who haven’t joined the Kenai Chamber of Commerce yet:
“Yes we do and being able to advertise for other businesses and also providing network opportunities is something that we can do and we would love to be able to spread the word and not just locally, but nationally through our website and various social media channels and whatnot to be able to market Kenai and local businesses.”
Perry thanked the Board of Directors for the opportunity and said that he looks forward to meeting community members and wants to encourage everyone to attend the Chamber’s programs and events planned for the future.
