The Kenai River Brown Bears will be under a new head coach when the Brown Bears return to the ice on Friday and Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. The Brown Bears open a two-game series against the Minnesota Wilderness with a Friday game at 7:30 p.m.
The Brown Bears have released Geoff Beauparlant from his head coaching and assistant general manager duties. Under Beauparlant, the Brown Bears stand at 2-31-1 on the 2015-16 Junior A hockey season; and posted a program record 30-straight losses before a victory on Saturday broke the losing streak. Other changes to the Brown Bears staff and possible player roster changes have occurred or will in the near future.
The Brown Bears have named Jeff Worlton as head coach. Worlton comes to the Brown Bears from the Breezy Point (Minnesota) North Stars of the Tier III NAHL .
The Brown Bears are currently sixth in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League.
