Brown Bears Close With Three-Game Road Series In Fairbanks

The regular season for the Kenai River Brown Bears, and with the Midwest Division’s worst record, the 2017-18 Junior A hockey season for Kenai River closes with a three-game series on the road to the NAHL’s northern-most and winningest hockey program; as the Brown Bears will battle the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Big Dipper Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday March 29-31.

 

Kenai River stands in sixth place in the six team Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League with a record of 16-38-1-2 and 35 total points.  The Brown Bears are currently 26 points out of fourth place and the final playoff spot for the Midwest Division.  The Fairbanks Ice Dogs lead the division with 94 points and a record of 44-7-3-3; the Minnesota Magicians have locked-in the final playoff position with 61 points.

 

Kenai River will miss the NAHL playoffs for a fourth-straight season and the Brown Bears will finish last in the Midwest Division for a fourth-straight year.  The Brown Bears overall record for the past four seasons stands at 48 wins and 177 losses with three games remaining against the Ice Dogs.  The current Raven Cup series stands at Fairbanks 6 and Kenai River 3 with three games remaining in the 12-game series.

 

The Kenai River Brown Bears vs Fairbanks Ice Dogs series opens Thursday at the Big Dipper Arena in Fairbanks with a scheduled 7:30 p.m. game time.
