Brown Bears Drop Home Opener 6-2 To Steel

The Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team dropped its home-opener on Thursday night , falling 6-2 to the Chippewa Steel at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

 

Kenai River 2 – Chippewa 6

Kenai River trailed 3-1 after the first period to the Steel.  Chippewa opening the score on a power-play goal just 2:34 into the first period.  The Brown Bears answered quickly at 5:33 on a Cole Dubicki goal.  The Steel added two goals for a 3-1 first period lead.

The two team skated evenly in the second period, each scoring a single goal.  Dubicki scores his second goal for the Brown Bears which proved to be the final Kenai River goal.  Chippewa added two, third period goals for a 6-2 victory.

 

The Brown Bears drop to 1-10 on the season as Chippewa improves to 7-7.

 

The Brown Bears face-off with the Steel on Friday and Saturday, October 22-23 at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex with game times scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
