The Kenai River Brown Bears opened the NAHL regular season with a pair of road losses against the Chippewa Steel in Wisconsin.
The Brown Bears fell 5-1 on Friday, managing a lone goal in the second period then allowing four, straight goals to the Steel. Nathan Dickey stopped 34 pucks in goal for the Brown Bears. On Saturday, Kenai River was shut out by the Steel 4-0; Chippewa scoring three goals in the second period and recorded an empty-net goal in the third period. Bryant Marks recorded 26 saves for Kenai River.
NAHL Showcase
The 18th annual North American Hockey League (NAHL) Showcase opens play on Wednesday, September 15th at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
All 29 NAHL teams will play between three and four regular-season games at the Showcase, which is one of hockey’s most prominent and popular events of the entire season and has become the ‘Greatest Show on Ice.’
The Kenai River Brown Bears begin showcase play with an 11:30 a.m. Alaska Time pairing against the New Mexico Ice Wolves.
