The Brown Bears offense disappeared on Friday, re-appeared (but came up short) on Saturday against the Minnesota Magicians as the Magicians pulled out a pair of victories at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex against the Kenai River Brown Bears 3-0 and 3-2 in Junior A hockey action.
The Magicians, first in the Midwest Division of the NAHL, improve to 15-5 and 30 points; Kenai River drops below .500 with a 9-10-0-1 record and 19 points (fifth in the Midwest).
Kenai River 0 – Magicians 3 Friday
The Brown Bears failed to score on Friday in a 3-0 loss; however, the Bears defense proved solid allowing a single goal in the first period and holding the Magicians scoreless until the Bears pulled their goalie and allowed two empty-net goals in the final minute and a half. Kenai River goalie Dennis Westergard recorded 32 saves on 33 shots.
Kenai River 2 – Magicians 3 Saturday
The Brown Bears opened the scoring with a Markuss Komuls goal in the first period. Trailing 2-1 in the second, Zach Krajnik tied the game at 2-2. The Magicians scored the game-winner in the second period as both teams were scoreless in the final period. Gavin Enright for Kenai River recorded 29 saves on 32 shots.
