The Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team, following the NAHL Showcase event, face-off against the Minnesota Wilderness on Friday and Saturday, September 24-25 before packing and heading to Alaska.
The Brown Bears vs Wilderness series is scheduled for the Northwoods Credit Union Area in Cloquet, Minnesota with game times set for 4:15 Alaska Time.
Kenai River closed play at the 2021 NAHL Showcase with a 6-2 loss to the North Iowa Bulls and finished Showcase play with a 1-3 record. The Brown Bears recorded only six goals while allowing 15 goals in the four Showcase games.
Kenai River relocates to the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex for the regular season of the NAHL to compete in the Midwest Division along with fellow Alaskan teams, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and the newly-formed Anchorage Wolverines.
The Brown Bears travel to Fairbanks to face the Ice Dogs on October 1st and 2nd at the Big Dipper Arena. Game times scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Kenai River’s home opener is scheduled for October 21-23 with a three-game series against the Chippewa Steel at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Friday and Saturday set for 7:30 start times.
