The Kenai River Brown Bears closed the Minnesota-based, majority of the 2021 Junior A hockey season with a 3-2 victory over the Chippewa Steel on Saturday.
Kenai River is now packing and moving home to the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex and its new, home base for the final month of the regular season in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League. Kenai River’s first practice on home ice could be as early as Wednesday, April 7th.
Kenai River’s final four weeks of the regular season includes three-straight weekend home series, scheduled for eight total home games, and a final two-game series in Fairbanks against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
The first home weekend will feature the Brown Bears against the Ice Dogs on April 16-17 at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
The Brown Bears currently stand in fourth place in the Midwest Division with a record of 16-20-1-1 and 34 points. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are currently in second place with a record of 20-17-1-1 and 42 points.
The Kenai River Brown Bears will play under mitigation protocols at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex which will include mask wearing by all spectators and social distancing. Advance ticket sales will be a major component to the attendance restrictions which will allow 750 spectators in the SRSC.
Kenai River is offering a Purchase the Eight game package which includes one ticket for each of the eight regular season home games for $120 per package.
