Following a ten-game, season opening road trip to the Lower 48, the Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team hosts the Shreveport (Louisiana) Mudbugs for the Brown Bears home-ice opener at 7:30 on Friday, October 20th at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
The Brown Bears stand at 4-6 on the season and currently stand in 5th place in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League.
Kenai River closed their road swing with a pair of losses to the Bismark Bobcats. Kenai River fell 3-2 and 4-3 to the Bobcats on Friday and Saturday in Bismark, North Dakota.
The current standings in the six-team Midwest Division finds the Janesville Jets in first place with a record of 9-2 with 18 points. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs stand in second with a 7-2 record and 15 points. Kenai River holds the fifth position with a 4-6 record and eight points.
