Brown Bears May Play Spoilers In Midwest Division

With playoff possibilities for the Kenai River Brown Bears dashed by Christmas, Kenai River is in position to play the spoilers for their Alaska rivals in the final weeks of the NAHL regular season.

 

The Brown Bears enter the next-to-last weekend of the regular season for NAHL Junior hockey with a two-game series set for Friday and Saturday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

 

The Ice Dogs are currently tied for first place in the Midwest Division of the NAHL with 71 points; Springfield also has earned 71 points.  The Anchorage Wolverines have advanced to fourth place in the standings, battling for a playoff spot from the Midwest Division.  The division holds four automatic berths to the NAHL playoffs for the Robertson Cup.  Entering the first weekend of April, two of the four playoff berths belong to Alaska programs.

Upcoming Brown Bears Schedule

Kenai River plays Friday and Saturday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Soldotna Sports Center with 7:30 game times.  The Brown Bears close the season hosting the Minnesota Magicians on Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th.
