The Kenai River Brown Bears continue in the role of “Road Warriors” as the team travels to Wisconsin for a two-day, two-game series against the Janesville Jets in Janesville, Wisconsin. Based in Minnesota, the Brown Bears continue to play road games until a scheduled January 20 contest in Kenai River’s home base of Breezy Point, Minnesota.
Kenai River faces-off against the Jets on Friday and Saturday at the Janesville Arena. Game times are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.CST.
The Brown Bears face strict COVID-19 mitigation protocols in Minnesota which have curtailed on-ice practices and which now require mandatory mask wearing during practice and games.
In-regards-to Kenai Rivers re-locating to the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex, Kenai River Brown Bears General Manager Chris Hedlund confirmed the return to Alaska may not develop until mid-February.
” No, we (Brown Bears) won’t be back in January. With the restrictions on, we are looking at a February chunk (in schedule) right now with our next group, but we’re not coming back in January, we won’t be able to co that. We had to make a decision in early December because of how tickets are purchased; we have to buy them and we would waste them if we didn’t plan out.” “With still the travel challenge that we don’t have any clarity on; as well as, the Soldotna Sports Center’s minimal fans, it just doesn’t make sense to come back yet.”
